Providence Area Events This Weekend

Welcome to our GoProvidence Weekend Roundup with all the hottest happenings in PVD this weekend.

The RI Home Show takes over the Rhode Island Convention Center this weekend, and it's basically HGTV come to life. Browse hundreds of home improvement exhibitors, wander through the 10,000 sq ft Garden Experience, catch the "Specialty" Flower Show and check out the House of Brews (because home renovation is thirsty work).

If you're more of a treasure hunter, head over to 195 District Park on Saturday for the Select Markets Providence Thrift Market. It's a free, all-ages outdoor event with small vendors, food trucks and live DJs. Think of it as sustainable shopping with a soundtrack.

On Saturday and Sunday, the Bloom Flower & Home Market brings over 85 plant shops, florists, makers and artists to the WaterFire Arts Center for a full-on botanical wonderland. Your admission even includes a drink ticket, so you can sip while you shop for that rare monstera you absolutely don't need (but definitely deserve).

Theater fans, "Primary Trust" at Trinity Rep deserves a spot on your weekend list. This 2024 Pulitzer Prize winner follows Kenneth, a bookstore worker whose quiet, comfortable routine gets upended by a sudden layoff. It's an offbeat comedy about change, connection and finding the courage to step outside your comfort zone. Warm, funny and genuinely moving.

Finally, if you're heading out with the kids, Roger Williams Park Zoo & Carousel Village is kicking off its new A Bug's World exhibit on Saturday. It's an immersive, supersized look at insect life, with ants the size of dogs and butterflies that feel larger than life. Between that and the Fairy Garden Days running at the nearby Roger Williams Park Botanical Center, the park is basically an enchanted forest for the next few weeks.
