One of Providence's most popular attractions comes in the form of spinning circular carts full of fun at The Providence Rink.
Now, I know when you hear "bumper cars" you think of the carnival fun of crashing into your best friend (or younger sibling), but now you'll think of ice and, well, still crashing into your best friend.
The Providence Rink was the first outdoor rink to host these bumper cars that operate on ice. Each ride lasts 15 minutes and reservations are required. Plan to arrive 15–20 minutes prior to your reserved time for instructions on how to operate the cars. The bumper cars often run at the same time as regular ice skating, so don't worry about not being able to skate at the rink.
Due to construction, the tentative opening date is Friday, Dec. 20, 2024 (weather permitting).
December 2024–March 2025 Winter Schedule:
MONDAY–THURSDAY
Shared ice bumper cars & ice skating – 8 cars per session ($13 plus tax)
4–8 p.m.
FRIDAY–SUNDAY
Full ice bumper cars – 10 cars per session ($16 plus tax)
9–10 a.m.
Shared ice bumper cars & ice skating – 8 cars per session ($13 plus tax)
10 a.m.–2 p.m.
And even though one-third of the rink will be dedicated to bumper cars at some part of the day, it's still twice the size of Rockefeller Center's rink — plenty of room for public ice skating for all!
