One of the best and most delicious ways to shop locally is by visiting a farmers market. With so many fresh food options in one place, it's a sure way to experience the local flavor. Most markets accept cash, credit, debit, EBT and WIC, and operate rain or shine. We recommend checking their websites for updates.
Hope Street Farmers Market
Located on Providence's East Side, the Hope Street Farmers Market takes over Lippitt Memorial Park every Saturday morning. This farmer-run cooperative is managed by some of the Ocean State's best farmers and food artisans.
While you'll find plenty of farm-fresh produce and proteins, there are also lots of beautiful flowers, delicious cheeses, fresh-baked bread and pastries, and even fresh-caught seafood to enjoy. The market also features weekly live musical performances and prepared food vendors, offering the perfect setting for a picnic with friends and family.
Farm Fresh Rhode Island
Farm Fresh Rhode Island hosts six seasonal outdoor farmers markets throughout Providence and the rest of Rhode Island from spring through fall. By far its largest market, the year-round Providence Farmers Market takes place every Saturday at their Farm Fresh Hub in Providence's Valley neighborhood. Explore offerings from more than 50 local vendors throughout the 60,000-square foot facility, including food trucks and other rotating pop-ups.
The building at 10 Sims Ave. is also home to a handful of businesses. Grab a treat from Anchor Toffee or Wright's Creamery, something spicy at Rhed's Hot Sauce, some beautiful blooms at Robin Hollow Flowers, and then have a sip at New Harvest Coffee + Spirits or Providence Brewing Company. Or maybe snag a few of the freshest tacos around at Tallulah's Taqueria for lunch! Visit Farm Fresh RI for the statewide Rhode Island Farmers Market Guide for summertime.
Pawtuxet Village Farmers Market
For even more Saturday farmers market fun, head over the city line to Cranston's historic Pawtuxet Village for the Pawtuxet Village Farmers Market. Set up in the parking lot of Rhodes on the Pawtuxet on Saturday mornings, you'll find nearly two dozen vendors each week. Enjoy tasty seasonal treats, incredible handmade goods and live music. There's always lots of parking and the market's dog-friendly, so bring your four-legged companion along for the fun!
