Music:
Although the Debo Band is based in nearby Boston, the 11-piece group is capable of teleportation. Through infectious African grooves and dance-ready tunes, this Ethiopian-pop outfit takes listeners on an unforgettable journey. Film:
The Rhode Island International Film Festival is considered one of the nation's top stops for filmmakers, film lovers, writers, and industry-types. The festival will take place from August 5 - 10 in various venues throughout the city and will include premieres, international features, documentaries, and shorts. There are also lectures and other special events. Action!
WaterFire:
The beloved WaterFire burns brightly through the season, and even extending all the way into the fall. The next fire will be lit on August 9 and will feature - for the first time in two years - the awe-inducing WaterFire Ballroom.
A Bit of Everything:
Foo Fest is the signature event from expert art experimenters AS220. On August 9, the Fest will commandeer a city block for a 12-hour party featuring live music, art installations, and participatory creative activities. Family-friendly programming takes place during the day, before giving way to eccentric entertainment that is AS220's specialty.
