Before closing the book on 2021, the Providence Warwick Convention & Visitors Bureau (PWCVB) announced the appointment of a new board member and two well-deserved staff promotions.

Chris Marsella, president of Marsella Development Corporation, has been appointed to the PWCVB Board of Directors. Marsella brings with him more than 20 years of experience in real estate investment and development and, along with his family, is currently planning a food hall that will be a major downtown Providence attraction. He’s long been active in the downtown community, serving on the boards of the Providence Foundation and the Providence Preservation Society for nearly two decades.

“Both Chris’ role as a catalyst in the resurgence of downtown and his extensive involvement in the community make him a wonderful addition to our board,” said Kristen Adamo, president and CEO of the PWCVB. “All of our board members volunteer their time to provide strategy and support in our effort to further grow our destination’s tourism industry.”

Additionally, two PWCVB employees were acknowledged for their sales performance. Anissa Ladd has been named director of sales after serving as director of national accounts since she joined the PWCVB in 2018. Ladd has spent nearly 30 years in the hospitality industry. Jonathan Walker has also been promoted to sports sales manager within the RI Sports Commission (RISC). Walker has more than eight years of experience in the Rhode Island hospitality and sports markets and has most recently served in a coordinator role since joining RISC in 2019.

“Anissa and Jonathan are well-equipped to handle these new roles and responsibilities, given their stellar work for us in the past,” Adamo said. “Both have been instrumental in attracting and booking business in the Providence/Warwick region and across the entire state.”
