Girls on the Run RI (GOTRRI), a local nonprofit organization, is a one-of-a-kind young women's empowerment program that uses running and physical activity to build confidence in local girls. Over the course of 10 weeks, girls in grades 3–8 learn critical life skills and explore topics such as self-esteem, positive self-talk, peer pressure and bullying. The after-school program concludes with a celebratory 5K event on Sunday, Nov. 18, giving girls a tangible sense of achievement, as well as a framework for setting and achieving life goals. For these girls, the finish line is just the beginning. If you are interested in sponsorship opportunities, contact jacklyn.ohara@girlsontherun.org.
